DAY 1
Saturday 31st May 2025
Meet at London Stansted Airport at 8am for our short morning flight to south-west France. We will arrive into Tarbes-Lourdes Airport at 13:05. A short 20min transfer gets us to our hotel where we can relax over a welcome drink. Father Ryan Holovlasky of the Irish Redemptorists will be our Spiritual Director for the pilgrimage and will open it by saying our first mass. Afterwards we will be given an orientation tour of the Sanctuary followed by dinner and then the option to join the 9pm torchlight procession.
DAY 2
Sunday 1st June 2025
A guided tour of the town of Lourdes, known as the Footsteps of Bernadette. Re-living the history of Bernadette and the Soubirous family - their fall from grace, their destitution and the overwhelming response of the people of Lourdes to Bernadettes visions. The walking tour includes a detailed history on Bernadette and the apparitions plus a visit to the Parish church where you can venerate the baptismal font of Bernadette and where Fr. Ryan will renew our Baptismal vows in a short service. We finish at the cemetery where the Soubirous family are buried.
Day 3
Monday 2nd June 2025
After mass enjoy some free time to visit the baths, confessionals or for private prayer. You might also like to visit the famous Pic de Jer or the dominant Fortress of Lourdes one of the oldest buildings in France - that sits proudly on a rock, keeping a watchful eye over the town of Lourdes!
After lunch we will visit the Museum of Miracles in the Sanctuary where an expert from their office will give us an exclusive presentation on the miracles that have taken place in Lourdes; how they are observed medically and how the church authenticates them. This will be followed by a short video.
We will then join the 5pm Eucharistic procession which takes place each day in the Sanctuary, concluding with the blessing of the sick in the Basilica of Pope Pius X.
DAY 4
Tuesday 3rd June 2025
We leave after breakfast for the Pyrenean town of Gavarnie, home to the second largest waterfall in Europe and the source of the River Gave which flows dramatically through Lourdes past the Holy Grotto. We will pray the rosary in the ancient chapel here that is also a featured stop on the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela. After a picnic packed lunch in Gavarnie, we will head to the 14th Century former Benedictine Abbey of St. Savin in the Pyrenees, visited by Bernadette before she left Lourdes for Nevers. Father Ryan will say mass here and then, after an opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views of St Savin, we will head to the village of Bartrs where each pilgrim will be individually blessed with the holy relic of Saint Bernadette.
DAY 5
Wednesday 4th June 2025
After breakfast and checking out of our rooms we will visit the monastery of the Carmelite sisters of Lourdes to pray the Rosary in their chapel overlooking the Grotto, followed by a visit to the gift shop where, amongst many other handmade items, the sisters make their own chocolate!
Fr. Ryan will close the pilgrimage with a final mass where he will bless all religious items purchased during the trip. After some time to say your goodbyes to the Grotto, we will head for the airport for our afternoon flight back to London.
